This seemed like problem to me. In my own experiences producing work I am always running out of space to but finished work. Work in progress always seems to get shuffled around as well. What to do? Well… create space for the work. Wade told me that this storage was particularly expensive. This solution is made of construction grade plywood and pine and very inexpensive.douglas e. leckiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12971040850833932337noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-923854403005402612.post-63248218447686280242009-05-10T13:47:00.000-07:002009-05-10T13:59:07.625-07:00chalk / pinup / door<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirX0AeRvfs1gKB1zcxfBVZ1uRljfoPXKIukQrs138gm4wekUCh8RTDfUdjvINGW8nFpl7grwK5N850pJvc3ZoJCxvjS0TnZCWX8v7pEHgEWP2iVoqJJW9g4yxYAUb8N9Fy9KS_JEU_Sb0/s1600-h/hs-ar-pinup-blogg-02.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 207px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirX0AeRvfs1gKB1zcxfBVZ1uRljfoPXKIukQrs138gm4wekUCh8RTDfUdjvINGW8nFpl7grwK5N850pJvc3ZoJCxvjS0TnZCWX8v7pEHgEWP2iVoqJJW9g4yxYAUb8N9Fy9KS_JEU_Sb0/s320/hs-ar-pinup-blogg-02.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334302409383151714" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixmgizz48Amq3q0a7Ony11gbPukNzMzcMMnaeE-jjgF7pbH8RmHknrOmy6IFRylrAHL9unQKtL4AE0xOePqQrLCS282jlyCepDuV_n-WQZM5bSlbTVHrZhsJ_yXZj3fY1i8QsWszkROdM/s1600-h/hs-ar-pinup-blogg-01.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 207px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixmgizz48Amq3q0a7Ony11gbPukNzMzcMMnaeE-jjgF7pbH8RmHknrOmy6IFRylrAHL9unQKtL4AE0xOePqQrLCS282jlyCepDuV_n-WQZM5bSlbTVHrZhsJ_yXZj3fY1i8QsWszkROdM/s320/hs-ar-pinup-blogg-01.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334302403520102434" border="0" /></a><br />These drawing show how the metal “pinup” walls open to connect the two classrooms. Though art as a discipline spans many academic platforms, the process is kinesthetic. To construct a sculpture or paint a painting, you must go through the process of creating. This is an active process. The students learn by action in this scenario by the nature of the content. The space is an open atmosphere with unfixed furniture to allow the users to shape the rooms as needed. The renovation of the storage room can now be opened up to help connect the two classrooms. Both classrooms have large glass garage doors that can be opened to connect the indoors and out doors expanding the possibilities for the student’s educational experience.douglas e. leckiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12971040850833932337noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-923854403005402612.post-41234150019356268522009-05-10T11:27:00.000-07:002009-05-10T11:32:05.044-07:00covered work area<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRMhpSPpnaGkSgdKF4AC-ybsZpbBe12eCaSEk5hwbXsGdbzwClWLZRXubVeJ6jWN0J1_bvhBSFo7gm_ZrytNbzsOULbooK4x08OrMo5Cr27yjFjMii4tgeo9K8yI4TfmKXrDS-Bqeemss/s1600-h/hs-ar-outside-blogg-01.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 207px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRMhpSPpnaGkSgdKF4AC-ybsZpbBe12eCaSEk5hwbXsGdbzwClWLZRXubVeJ6jWN0J1_bvhBSFo7gm_ZrytNbzsOULbooK4x08OrMo5Cr27yjFjMii4tgeo9K8yI4TfmKXrDS-Bqeemss/s320/hs-ar-outside-blogg-01.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334264683607715938" border="0" /></a><br />connecting the indoor and outdoor environment through the sacred geometry of a cercal<br /><br />In this design the idea of the sacred geometry of a cercal led an axis. This classroom is the center of the world the students who occupy it one period out of their day. From this point the students the students will go off and explore the concepts they’ve learned. The design of the two classrooms, storage areas, teacher offices, and outdoor area are revolve around a central point and fall within the boundaries of circles based at that same point. Everything outside of the boundaries of the circles is left as it was before the renovation. This decision was made for three reasons. The first reason was to cut back on expenses. As the space is for public high school, keeping a low budget was important. The second reason is the work on the space already done by the teachers. They have made their mark on the space and that shouldn’t be disregarded. The third reason was conceptual. Based on the guiding principles rooted in the connecting of the indoor and outdoor environment through the sacred geometry of a cercal and how that is expressed by an axis.douglas e. leckiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12971040850833932337noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-923854403005402612.post-74095275026596777352009-05-10T10:49:00.000-07:002009-05-10T10:58:32.328-07:00photo/sketch<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiV7KWmZJxhYOdp89yRF7CtGOPlsuR5GfMPoI654hFXxmx9MOxI359SOq6vsnQc262c0cinGF8mLjCukCHYRJPw_3D4wmhqQCf6nnjhawTvvLyhCB4AJFRza52SC0WBtsRi2dHwZ62Fv8c/s1600-h/artspace-sketch-01.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 182px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiV7KWmZJxhYOdp89yRF7CtGOPlsuR5GfMPoI654hFXxmx9MOxI359SOq6vsnQc262c0cinGF8mLjCukCHYRJPw_3D4wmhqQCf6nnjhawTvvLyhCB4AJFRza52SC0WBtsRi2dHwZ62Fv8c/s320/artspace-sketch-01.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334256033507322082" border="0" /></a><br />An initial photo/sketch of what I wanted to do. After the precedence, we began designing. Time was limited, but in an encouraging way. We had to make decisions quickly. Our group made painstaking efforts to combine functions within the space. I primarily focused on the window treatments which also functioned as a dry erase board and as a surface to project on.douglas e. leckiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12971040850833932337noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-923854403005402612.post-39990690535823239892009-03-27T11:33:00.000-07:002009-03-27T11:54:52.129-07:00Lectern Charrette<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUIgiVNXQ2LdhzIJ7nB9vbID3i1LkP62aO4aJsEUanfA4ZyEqwP4LNcaMFUoXREMB5FYwQ1L1944xFdWy45RbDwjJstfCMv9bzMmzLlUanRs5QxJVEgiRY_sJjoGKiu9pKq7lXRbzhpuY/s1600-h/204+-+model+-+2:8:09.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 217px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUIgiVNXQ2LdhzIJ7nB9vbID3i1LkP62aO4aJsEUanfA4ZyEqwP4LNcaMFUoXREMB5FYwQ1L1944xFdWy45RbDwjJstfCMv9bzMmzLlUanRs5QxJVEgiRY_sJjoGKiu9pKq7lXRbzhpuY/s320/204+-+model+-+2:8:09.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5317941435401978594" border="0" /></a>The lectern charrette was the first phase of our beta project. For this the studio evaluated the lectern in room 204. We did precedence research and designed our own lectern. After a brief schematic design of the lectern, we broke into small groups to redesign the whole classroom. Teach group picked one of their member’s lecterns. My design was picked by my group based on it clean and minimal appearance. This antistatic fit with what we were doing with room 204.douglas e. leckiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12971040850833932337noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-923854403005402612.post-44591173178294958692009-03-27T11:06:00.000-07:002009-03-27T11:32:40.776-07:00school of athens<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5F7xB0dpH8qcGCk5SKYCPdPKdf2MLurKWpV-7NXBI1I2Nvac8dNWfrFA343oEYr9cmdSb7FzZClf8QrhAoi0VnutmzhCe1RnSdHT72xw5aWwcMc0RPF2nQMnheT_i1ZZa85pyOlBjpsI/s1600-h/IMG_1225.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 180px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5F7xB0dpH8qcGCk5SKYCPdPKdf2MLurKWpV-7NXBI1I2Nvac8dNWfrFA343oEYr9cmdSb7FzZClf8QrhAoi0VnutmzhCe1RnSdHT72xw5aWwcMc0RPF2nQMnheT_i1ZZa85pyOlBjpsI/s320/IMG_1225.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5317937048907057394" border="0" /></a><br />We began this semester in studio with a quick charrette reinterpreting Raphael’s school of Athens. We divided an image of the painting in to a grid an every one took one part of the image to redo. This was an individual project that came together into one larger whole. There was a mixed media project and everyone tried something different.<br /><br />I used nothing but white paper to reconstruct my portion. I cutout contours that followed the dominant patters in the image, stacking up multiple layer to create depth.<br /><br />Once the individual segment of this charrette was completed, as a class we generated a section view of the Gatewood Studio Arts Building highlighting the spaces that we use. We then scaled this section to fit over the original project, printed it out on translucent velum and hung it up over the piece.douglas e. leckiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12971040850833932337noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-923854403005402612.post-78556127052101645402009-02-11T07:34:00.000-08:002009-02-11T07:35:05.536-08:00It's my bloggdouglas e. leckiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12971040850833932337noreply@blogger.com0
